Twitter Alert When Someone Mentions You: Never Miss an @Mention
February 2, 2026 · TweetNotifier Team
Twitter sends push and in-app notifications for @mentions by default. For more control—filter by keyword, route to email or Slack—use a mention alert tool.
Built-in Twitter Mention Alerts
In Twitter settings, make sure notifications for “Mentions” are on. You’ll get alerts when someone @mentions your handle. You can choose push, email, or both.
When You Need More Than the App
Built-in vs mention alert tools
| Feature | Twitter app | Mention alert tool |
|---|---|---|
| Alert when @mentioned | Yes | Yes |
| Alert when keyword/hashtag mentioned (no @) | No | Yes |
| Send to email or Slack | Limited | Yes |
| Filter by sentiment or volume | No | Yes |
If you care about “any tweet that mentions my brand” or “mentions that contain ‘support’,” use a tool like TweetNotifier. Add your @handle and keywords; get every matching mention in one place.
Why am I not getting Twitter mention alerts?
Check notification settings in the app (and in your phone/OS). Ensure “Mentions” is enabled. If you use a tool, check that your account is connected and the rule is active.
